Course Aim:
Aimed at operatives, managers or supervisors who may be required to control the use of fall protection systems or make physical use of fall protection systems.
Certification of competency is issued ONLY to those delegates who successfully complete both the practical elements and a project which requires delegates to examine their own workplace and identify risks, anchor points, correct equipment and then identify any faults
Course Content:
Modules covered during this course include all or some of the following dependent on delegate requirements.
Awareness of height safety legislation
Generic and specific risk assessment for fall/retrieval situations
Differences between fall arrest, restraint and retrieval
Equipment approvals & selection of appropriate harness / lanyard
Use of equipment as a combined system
Limitations of equipment
Scheduled inspection periods & record management
Pre-use inspection of anchor points, harness, lanyard or retrieval device
Correct donning and fitting of equipment
After use care and stowage of equipment
The need for safe systems of work and the rescue plan
Equipment used on the course will be drawn from manufacturers including BH Sala, Abtech, Pammenter & Petrie, Tractel, Rollgliss, Protecta International, North Safety, Ridgegear, Troll, Lyon (Petzl).
